How incredible is the spring? The weather can offer us the harshness of winter followed (often on the same day!) by the assurance of summer sunshine as a gentle feeling of warmth touches our skin. People appear more apt to smile during this time of the year, not complaining of the heat or the cold - the earth is showing us all it has to give with new growth at every turn. The fiddleheads you can see are from a Male Fern (Dryopteris filix-mas) on one of our favourite walks. We will watch these emerge and grow into a beautiful fern. Fiddleheads are abundant in the spring, starting so small they are barely noticeable. Suddenly they stretch out and become the fronds of ferns that continue to amaze and delight us. We hope this wonderful season is filling you with the promise of hope and bringing you peace and comfort. Tina and Ted

How delightful to have found these two cute little Easter chicks hiding under an equally cute little Male Fern (Dryopteris filix-mas) in our garden. What a perfect reminder of the wonderful time of year we have entered. You do not need to celebrate Easter to be grateful for the beautiful world around us and all that nature has to give. We wish everyone at this time many blessings, may your lives be filled with peace and comfort as we all enjoy what spring has to offer, even if only for a moment. Tina and Ted

We all know from fossils that ferns have been on planet earth for millions of years which is all credited to their amazing strength, resilience and adaptability. The fern frond you can see above is from a flourishing Royal Fern (Osmunda regalis) and would actually have formed part of the diet for a Brontosuarus (and other sauropods) dinosaur 220 million years ago, along with other members of the Osmundaceae familiy of ferns. How incredible is that? We'll leave you with that mind-blowing fact, wishing you, as always peace and comfort in your daily life. Tina and Ted
