Scaly Males!

What a backdrop this beautiful Scaly Male Fern (Dryopteris affinis) has! This stunning view can be found not far from us at Bwlch Nant yr Arian, one of our favourite walks and a beautiful space to be in. The Scaly Male Fern plant can be used as a sign of ancient woodland which is amazing. It differs from the Male Fern (Dryopteris filix-mas) mainly by the thick golden (sometimes brownish) scales on its strong stems and fronds. It really looks magnificent and offers itself perfectly to our continued wish to all for peace and comfort. Tina and Ted
